Play a crucial part in helping to maintain the wellbeing and safety of residents

Working in facilities management, you’ll complete general, corrective, preventative and compliance tasks as well as ensuring refurbishment programs at our sites are completed to a high standard in accordance with work orders, regulations and IRT policies and procedures.

Enjoy a hands-on role, in which you’ll play a crucial part in helping to maintain the wellbeing and safety of residents and staff by ensuring our sites and facilities are kept in excellent condition.

Types of positions available

We’re always looking for tradespeople, gardeners and customer service professionals to work at our aged care centres and retirement villages and help keep them in peak condition.

Our maintenance and facilities management team is proud to support IRT retirement villages, aged care centres and home care to ensure older Australians continue to live their best lives. Duties include:

  • Trade work (for example, electrical and painting jobs)
  • Home and property maintenance
  • Cleaning
  • Landscaping and gardening
  • Testing equipment
  • Identifying and addressing areas of concern and hazards on site
  • General maintenance and repairs
  • Regularly servicing on-site facilities
  • Refurbishing and restoring sites
  • Emergency maintenance support

There are also sometimes opportunities for apprenticeships within our maintenance and facilities management team, with no specific experience required.

What experience do you need for a maintenance job?

The experience required depends on the type of position. We have opportunities for qualified tradespeople such as electricians, gardeners and carpenters as well as handyperson roles. These will require a trade certificate in the respective field and industry experience providing trade services and maintenance work.

There are also opportunities for apprenticeships within our facilities management team, with no specific experience required.

Are there opportunities to develop my career as a tradesperson?

Absolutely. We sometimes offer apprenticeships, so even if you have no experience or qualifications, there are opportunities to grow and develop at IRT.
