IRT to submit designs for roundabout construction on Princes Highway south of Milton
IRT is finalising designs for the proposed construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Warden Road and the Princes Highway south of Milton.
The designs which address all necessary road design elements, including traffic flow, drainage and speed limits, are being finalised in consultation with Transport for NSW and will soon be submitted to Shoalhaven City Council.
Establishment of the roundabout is one of the first required steps outlined in the original development approval for a retirement living and aged care community on property owned by IRT to the west of the intersection.
IRT purchased the 15-hectare DA-approved property in 2021 and has since been exploring the potential for adjustments to the approved plans for the site that better align with IRT’s vision to support older Australians to live active, full and independent lives, and at home longer.
IRT CEO Patrick Reid says IRT’s intentions to develop the site remain firm.
“Our property development team is working to refine our own masterplan for the site to ensure it aligns with our service delivery model,” Mr Reid said.
Mr Reid explains that meanwhile, IRT has been engaging with residents in the community who might be affected during the roundabout construction.
“The engagement process has involved a number of meetings throughout the past year with residents in the immediate area of the proposed roundabout. We are grateful to our neighbours who have engaged with us in this process and we appreciate their time and valuable feedback,” Mr Reid said.
According to staging plans, Warden Road West and the Service Road will remain accessible using temporary roads, and steps will be taken to minimise construction impact on residents living along the Princes Highway.
Pending approval of the final designs, IRT anticipates construction of the roundabout to commence before June 2025. Transport and traffic access will be maintained along the Princes Highway during school holiday periods and any change to speed limits during construction of the roundabout will be notified via road signage and approved traffic management plans.
Comments or questions from the community about the proposed roundabout and future development can be submitted to IRT via Brooks Community Engagement using this online Community Contact Form.
