Site Audit at IRT Thomas Holt Kirrawee Aged Care Centre

30 July 2024

Dear family member/resident representative,

We’ve been notified of a site audit taking place at your loved one’s aged care centre by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

The site audit has started this morning with Commission representatives proposing to assess all areas of your loved one’s aged care centre.

Site audits are common practice in the aged care industry and are conducted by an assessment team appointed by the Commission.

The purpose of site audits is to review the quality of care and services provided to residents and customers. It measures the performance of an aged care provider against all requirements of the Aged Care Quality Standards.

Our staff are working with the Assessment Team to ensure they have access to all the information and documents they need.

The Assessment Team may also like to talk with you or your loved one and ask you questions about the care and services provided by IRT, and we will assist them by providing relevant contact details.

If you would like to speak with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, you can contact them:

  • By phone on 1800 951 822, select option 2.
  • Provide feedback about your experience of the quality of care and services via an online survey.
Click here or use the QR code below.
To open the survey, use the code 0157
  • Write to them at Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, GPO Box 9819 Sydney NSW 2000.

Once the site audit is complete, the Assessment Team will provide IRT with a report that details the outcome of the assessment. Results of the assessment are made available on the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission website: www.agedcarequality.gov.au.

If you have any questions about the site audit at IRT Thomas Holt Kirrawee Aged Care Centre, please do not hesitate to contact your Care Manager Rajjwala Maharjan by phone on 02 9545 4799, mobile 0400 892 237 or by email rmaharjan@irt.org.au.

COVID-19 update

We continue to care for a number of residents who have tested positive to COVID-19 on Level 4 of the Flametree building. The residents are experiencing mild symptoms or none at all and we are monitoring them closely in consultation with their GPs, including discussions around antiviral treatment.

Visiting arrangements

While we manage the risk of COVID-19 at the care centre, you are encouraged to postpone your visit at this time. If you do continue with your plans to visit the care centre, the following arrangements apply:

  • All visitors to the care centre must provide proof of a negative rapid antigen test before entry, which has been completed that day.
  • Visitors to Flametree Level 4 will be asked to wear a P2/N95 mask, face shield and gown at all times. Visitors to all other levels in Flametree will be asked to wear a P2/N95 mask. Masks and shields will be provided on entry.

All other visiting arrangements continue to apply. You can find more information about our visiting arrangements on our website here.

As always please do not visit your loved one if you are experiencing any symptoms or are feeling unwell, even if the symptoms are mild. Even if you have a negative COVID-19 test result you may still have a contagious respiratory infection.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your support.

Kind regards,

Nia Briguglio
Executive General Manager – Aged Care Centres
